ILLUSTORIA Issue 1 Beginnings
ILLUSTORIA Issue 1 Beginnings
The Beginnings Issue explores the idea of beginnings—from ideas as tiny seeds that sprout and grow into something much bigger, to how artists find their inspiration and dedication to pursue a creative path. Our premiere issue features tons of goodies including an essay on the making of El Deafo by Newbery Honor and Eisner Award-winning graphic novelist Cece Bell; an interview with Caldecott Honor Award-winning author and illustrator Aaron Becker; an essay on learning to play the violin at age 4 by celebrated musician and master whistler Andrew Bird; an original comic by Lark Pien (Long Tail Kitty); an interview with Ramen Shop chef and co-owner Rayneil De Guzman; the first comic in the Literary Giants as Kids series starring Maya Angelou by Elizabeth Haidle; and of course DIY activities, coloring pages, a recipe, book recommendations, a playlist, and more!
