ILLUSTORIA Issue 2 Canvas
ILLUSTORIA Issue 2 Canvas
The Canvas Issue takes readers into the world of canvas as a medium to paint on, as a fabric to use for practical and artistic purposes, and as a blank slate to build upon. Issue 2 showcases master storyteller Hervé Tullet and his philosophy on making art with children; an interview with Tony DiTerlizzi on his inspiration for the fantastical characters and creatures in The Spiderwick Chronicles; a comic on Georgia O’Keefe and her revelations in the desert by Todd Webb; an article on pioneering artists who thought “Beyond the Canvas” by our very own art director Elizabeth Haidle; an illustrated story on the Mother of Modern Dance, Martha Graham, by Laurel Snyder and Marlowe Dobbe; a look at the material canvas by Matt Dick of Small Trade Company; plus activities, crafts, a recipe, and inspiration to keep your creative kids and their grownups reading, writing, drawing, discovering, coloring and creating.
